Questions and answers

Everything our guests ask most often – from check-in, parking and bikes to the kitchenette and restaurants nearby. Can't find your answer? Give us a call.

Arrival and departure

What time is check-in?

Check-in starts at 15:00. Your room is often ready earlier – in that case we'll text you straight away to let you know you can move in.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is by 11:00.

We'll arrive late in the evening – what then?

Check-in is possible until 21:00. If you know you won't make it, let us know in advance – by phone or text – and together we'll arrange how to hand over your room.

How do I get to you by train?

Get off at Szklarska Poręba Górna station. The town also has Średnia and Dolna stations, but Górna is the closest to us. From the station you can take a taxi – about 7 minutes and around 30 PLN (it's worth asking the driver for the price before the ride). You can also walk, which takes about 30 minutes on average. The terrain is hilly, so with heavy suitcases it'll be a decent warm-up before your mountain hikes.

Booking and payment

How does booking on our website work?
  1. You book your stay through the booking system on our website.
  2. Within a few hours you'll receive an email from us with your booking details and a request for a bank transfer – of the deposit or the full amount, depending on the type of booking you chose.
  3. Once the payment has arrived, we'll email you the booking confirmation.
Do I need to pay a deposit when booking?

It depends on the type of booking. For a standard booking the deposit is 30% of the price of the stay. The cheapest, non-refundable offer requires payment of 100% of the price at the time of booking.

How can I pay on site?

On site you can pay in cash or by card.

Can I cancel my booking?

It depends on the offer you chose – the “Best price” offer is non-refundable. You'll find the details in our terms and conditions (in Polish).

Is there a local tourist tax?

Yes, Szklarska Poręba charges a local tourist tax – currently 3.84 PLN.

Where is the best place to book?

It's best to book directly with us – through the booking system on our website or by phone. Bookings in English: +48 601 993 003 (also WhatsApp).

Rooms and amenities

Is there a kettle and a fridge in the rooms?

Every room has a kettle. The Śnieżne Kotły, Izerka, Złoty Widok and Szrenica rooms have a fridge. There's also a shared fridge in the ground-floor lounge.

Are towels provided?

You can hire bath towels for 10 PLN per towel for your whole stay, or bring your own. For bookings made via Booking.com, towels are already included in the price.

Is there a hairdryer in the room?

The Złoty Widok, Szklarka, Chybotek and Sokole Oko rooms have a fixed hairdryer. In the other rooms you can get one on request – just ask at check-in.

Why is the tap water sometimes yellowish?

This affects the whole of Szklarska Poręba, not just our house. The town's water supply comes from surface water sources, and after heavy rain or snowmelt, natural substances from the mountain soil get into the water and give it a yellowish tint. The water usually returns to normal after a few days. The local water company is working on new treatment technology. For drinking, we recommend the filtered water dispenser on the ground floor – with hot and cold water.

What's the internet like?

Fast fibre runs throughout the house – Wi-Fi up to 600 Mb/s. The rooms have Smart TVs where you can log in to your own Netflix or Disney+ accounts.

Which rooms have a balcony?

All rooms except Złoty Widok have a balcony. You'll find details of each room on the Our rooms page.

Do the rooms have air conditioning?

We don't have air conditioning – in Szklarska Poręba the nights are usually cool even in summer, and an open window provides a breeze. If it gets exceptionally hot, we'll bring a fan to your room on request.

Kitchen and restaurants

Is there a kitchen where I can cook?

On the ground floor there's a lounge with a kitchenette: fridge, kettle, microwave, filtered water dispenser (hot and cold), crockery, coffee and tea. The kitchenette has no hob or oven – meals can only be heated in the microwave.

Where can I eat lunch or dinner nearby?

There are lots of restaurants in Szklarska Poręba, but our guests most often recommend two places right next door: Bistro Pod Tłustym Prosiakiem – 70 metres from Szrenicówka – and Bistro Weranda – 130 metres from us. Both get great feedback from our guests and very good ratings on Google.

Parking, skis and bikes

Is there parking and how much does it cost?

Yes, parking at the house costs 15 PLN per day. It's not included in the room price because many of our guests come by train and don't use it – and they want the lowest possible price. Maintaining the car park costs money: snow clearing, cleaning oil stains and ongoing repairs. This way, only those who use it pay for it.

Where can I leave my skis?

There's a ski room for your ski gear by the entrance. In summer it serves as a pushchair store.

Can I bring my bike?

Yes – we have a monitored, alarmed bike shed for about 7 bikes. It's free of charge, but spaces must be booked in advance – let us know you're coming with bikes.

How far is it to the chairlift and the trails?

The lower station of the Szrenica chairlift and the trails into the Karkonosze are about 100 metres from the house.

Children, pets and evenings

Can I bring a pet?

Unfortunately, we do not accept guests with pets.

Is there anything for children?

The lounge has high chairs, board games, books and free table football. The Śnieżne Kotły, Izerka and Złoty Widok rooms have a sofa bed for a third person, and Szrenica sleeps four.

Can the fireplace be lit?

Yes – the host will light the fireplace in the lounge for you on request, booked in advance. This service is charged extra.

Do you speak English?

Yes! For bookings and questions in English, call or WhatsApp us on +48 601 993 003.
